While sitting in my dad’s car a few days ago, MLTR’s song (the video that had a chick on a piano) came on, and I didn’t change the station or put a cd in.
I’m not certain what this means, but it can’t be good.
The past few days in B’lore have been awfully cold. I love our winter, but it’s so much more charming in December than in January. January cold is like the boyfriend who cheats on you and then sends you flowers after you’ve given him the finger. Kidding? It’s you again? You already had your chance, didn’t you? Now get out so I can get on with it.
Sharon Little has a streak of brilliance not often found in the overflowing singer/songwriter set. She has a mind for clever arrangements built upon relatively simple, but elegant, melodies and in this regard she reminds me a bit of Janis Joplin. Her music might not be as attention grabbing or as trendy as her counterparts but she’ll find a way to impress you with this track below.
Whatever words you find to describe this song I’m sure they’ll be of a positive nature.
I shall be back soon with a movie review and a singer/actor that I’m dying to introduce y’all to. In the meantime wait unwearyingly with great eagerness for my return. Well, that and listen to Sharon Little’s track ‘What gets in the way’ on constant repeat for at least an hour.

Varied Updates
You can never keep a secret from your mother.
Not that this blog was going to be much of a secret anyways, but I decided to only spread it to a few people at first to gather reactions, critiques, choose the sort of tone I would write with and finally tell everyone about it. My older sister, brother-in-law and twin read it when I had began writing here. One of them told my mum, not sure who and now I'm in trouble. In proper official fashion, I am opening the blog up to the whole wide world. Or whoever happens to stumble upon it. Whichever.
I'm starting to feel icky and I'm just about convinced that I'm going to be catching some nasty ass TB or pneumonia or the flu or a cold. My mother kicked into on- the- spot- nurse so that I won't be sick when I have to travel- which gets on her nerves, especially since I don't listen to a thing she says when I'm sick.
(I think it's time for a collective *sneeze* for those of you who feel my pain. Ready? AaahhChhoooo. Ah! Much better?)
One more day until I depart for Dimapur, Nagaland and already word is starting to spread there that I'll be coming into town. This will mean a bit of travel, probably a bit of money out of pocket, and I don't think I'll be posting very often here. Also, it will mean leaving behind my crew (who I'm so used to seeing every day) and a lot of things that can only be found in Bangalore {family for one}. Fortunately, and this is an additional benefit for me, there will be no boyfriend left behind. If you read this blog, feel free to submit a list of reasons why I should devote some of my vacation to you, and I shall put you into consideration. Oh hell, if you put up with reading this blog, you pretty much deserve anything you want from me.
As promised in my previous post, a wish for Sheethal and a track of your choice up here on EC. And this dude gets his track played here today. Thanks for writing in Pete and for providing us all with some awesome music.
Thrice is an Experimental Rock band from California. The first couple of times or so I heard this track titled 'Come all you weary', I didn't know what to think. What I think it proves though is that I'm a sucker for the indie sound when it's used in a song that builds and builds and builds until it is an indefinable sonic shower of joy. And I like it. I probably would have given a kidney to sit in on a live set of this song, but instead I'll just give them a little slice of this blog. Congratulations to both of you (Pete and the band), this is a fine song. If you like the music here, and want to share it, please go ahead and link to this blog post. Thanks.
So, Mom, welcome to Evuhleen's Corner.
And that's today's offering! As always, if anything caught your eye this time around, feel free to let me know about in the comments section below. Cheers.

My only contact with the fashion world:
Imcha & A Model at the Lakme Fashion Show. Day 4
This is what an article in India Today had to say: ‘The day started with ten entrants called the GenNext by Lakme showing their collection where Anand Bhushan and Imchatsung Imchen stood out.’
I can’t wait to get my hands on one of my beloved friend’s creations and strut around showing off my new fabulous fashion sense.
saw it? want it? get it!

You know how you’re always paranoid about people thinking that there's something wrong with your head or face? You think everyone is laughing about how hideous you look, but actually, they don't care about you or your blemish? Well, that’s what a couple of researchers say. These guys have determined that both women and men consistently rate themselves less attractive than others rate them. In particular, women saw themselves as heavier than men did, and men saw themselves as less muscular than women saw them. This is scientific proof that not only does the world not revolve around you, but all the members of the opposite sex are trying to kiss your ass. Once again, science shatters your worldview but improves your quality of life.
I should be put in charge of studies. Then we'd find out really useful things. For example, I could figure out if we could confine radiation from mobiles and turn it in to superpowers. I could also find out how long someone could live on just booze and vitamins. Unfortunately, I don't have the time or the funds to find this out, because all funding has been halted as our corporation has decided that they want to do away with 10% of the employee population. So till they decide who they’re going to fire and hopefully once it’s safe I’ll think about enrolling myself and my friends in little fun...ahem… serious experiments. And I am sure I’ll only have to wait a little while until I’ll be supported by other studies. Any ideas for interesting experiments? I would like to invite you to mail them to me, in 300 words or less.
Let’s be real: if there’s one thing we look forward to on EC it’s the music. To kick off the fireworks here, Jason Mraz:
He is so awesome - I adore his music and the humor in the video 'The Remedy' - especially the idea of plushy rabbit shoes. He’s the wizard of oohh's and ahh's and fa-la-la's, yeah the Mr. A to Z, he's all about the word play...As I listen to his music I’m struggling to find a piece of land to put my feet on.
‘And it's time to get ill I got your remedy
For those who don't remember me
Well let me introduce you to my style
I try to keep a jumble
And the lyrics never mumble’
If you dig his songs make sure you check out two other tracks I love- ‘Wordplay’ and ‘Make it mine’. Simply brilliant.
Congrats Imcha. Muah!!

All By Myself
I remind myself of Bridget Jones, stuffed into her pajamas and safely tucked in her room far away from the world of the media. Sleeping early on a Saturday night I actually find myself looking forward to the idea of waking up early Sunday morning. This is how every spinster in the Asian continent feels, no?
There’s so much difference between the person I had imagined myself to grow up into and the boring person I see myself now. The image of going-out is just a way of making yourself feel better, of trying to live the life you saw on screen and see yourself do things you never imagined you could do in ordinary life? Drinking exotic drinks, dancing in a crowd, seducing someone handsome- Is there really a difference between that and the escapism of looking through various models of mobiles to find the one that will make you stand out while waiting for coffee? Is there a difference between making small talk with a bunch of arty-farty people over loud music and reading an exciting book, which reveals some truth about life and what’s been missing is right there in front of you if you look closer?
And I’d go on but this post is exceeding the number of characters that mark me as a social neurotic. So enough about the fantasized nightlife and the adolescent imaginations! It’s almost the end of the post, which means it’s time for The Musiq!
Here’s what I picked for today:
There’s a new man in town!

Under normal circumstances, this is where you’d find my half-joking reviews of the events of my life, but in today’s post, there’s something that’s a little more important that I wanted to draw everyone’s attention to. Don’t worry: I’ll be getting back to the more lighthearted stuff soon enough, but the kind of things that I’m going to write about in a second makes me so angry that I can’t see straight, and every once in a while, you have to take some time to remind people to not act like thoroughly horrible slime.
Here are only a few examples of several instances of harassment, stalking or assault that I’ve noticed in the city-
A couple of men grabbed a friend’s ass just because they wanted to see what her reaction was. When she got angry, they laughed at her. One of my friends who work with me was being constantly pestered by a man into giving her mobile number. No matter how many times she refused, he’d still keep asking her. Another friend of mine was openly criticized by a guy, for her ability to do something really well. Others have also confirmed he’d targeted several women with the same sort of ill-treatment and disapproval.
Quite simply, this behavior has got to stop. Our city should never be a sort of place where any woman, feels unsafe or attacked either orally or bodily in any form or type. There are those, sadly, who get off on this sort of behavior and assault, whether it’s to women walking on roads minding their own business or women revealing skin. This is not tolerable behavior under any condition, no matter what you look like or how you’re dressed, whether you are in a bikini or in formal wear.
In order to prevent such harassment there should be something like a zero tolerance for such aggravation or violence against any person and knowledge should be given to victims that they can safely and swiftly report such instances to someone in authority. Having no active guideline, and being unable to give a clear answer to questions about it, gives harassment and violence one more reason to be overlooked. Harassment shouldn’t have to happen at all, but it does under no definite directions about what to do and this unfortunately invites the prolongation of such unrefined behaviors or even worse.
And on that note, it’s time to call it a night. As always, feel free to let me know about anything that caught your eye.
Man… I can’t for the life of me remember what I did last night. Oh well, it’s probably best to move on. And what better way to move on than with Rooster.
That’s right, folks: It’s a Monday night on EC, and naming a band can only mean that it’s time once again for another round of ‘Eve’s Artist’. Here’s what I picked up this week…
Rooster's ‘Home’- is fantastic, and if you’re a new reader, it’s a done-in-one that makes it ideal for rocking on to. And if you’re not, well... Pretty awesome, right?
Right.
Now then, on with it!

Know E-vuh-leen Better

Time for an episode of ‘Know E-vuh-leen Better’
Here are some things you may not know about me:
I was gifted a huge stuffed monkey when I was 11. It always gave me nightmares but I’d never give him away to my twin. He still sits on the chair next to my bed.
Until I was 10 I believed pelicans picked up babies from some place and dropped them in homes.
The first album I ever got was ‘Step by Step’ by NKOTB.
I’ve never been to Mexico, but I kinda love salsa bandera.
I lived briefly at a family friend’s house when I was about 8. They had two sons who were also twins named Warren and Ricardo. One day Warren walked up to me, got down on one knee and asked me if I would marry him. He promised he’d give me a lot of kids.
Warren is now a priest in Canada.
I used to have an impressive collection of track pants and army boots 7 years ago.
I hate people that list Bacardi Breezer as their favorite alcoholic drink.
At the beginning of my 14th year, I was 4 foot 11 inches tall. On my 15th birthday, I asked god to make me taller than my mum. By my 16th birthday, I was 5 foot 2.
And then I stopped growing.
I am monophobic.
In school I had a colossal crush on the kid that everyone bullied. He finally spoke to me to ask me my friend’s name. I can still feel that pain.
He asked me out 20 times after 2002. I hate him.
Secretly I still think I’m going to make my mark.
I had to visit the school counselor once every week for a couple of months because I stapled my classmate's hand (in my defense, she was annoying).
Give me a minute as I inwardly burst into tears over the official death of any remnant of youth I once had.

Okay! I stumbled upon this track by Nightwish and I love it! Hence, it has made its way onto my blog. If you’ve ever liked anything else I’ve ever posted here on EC then I strongly recommend that you listen to this track. Trust me, this is good stuff. Their operatic melodies are intoxicating and mesmerizing. The more I listen to this track the more I find I love it, and the more I struggle to accurately define it. This is one of the songs that’s going to be played at my themed party- should induce the whole gothic feel.
Regardless of the root of your frustrations, it is Friday after all; a little tune can go a long way towards soothing your anxious mind and heart. Enjoy the music.
