I truly am the world’s worst blogger. However, I’m quickly becoming the world’s best employee. It's nice, to have a job from which I can come home and do nothing. I walk out my workplace, and the place ceases to exist until the next morning. I love it. Until the next morning, that is. I don’t love that it makes it harder to find time with Mr. Flirt, who’s usually busy when I get off work. He spent most of his time, this past week, asking me if I was alive. It’s funny; after months we are still utterly unable to have a complete, coherent phone conversation. We suck at it. He called me sometime back and listening to our conversations you’d think I’d never have spoken to a boy before. After we hang up I’d immediately think of lots of fun things to discuss. I hate the friggin phone. I have, however, come to love texting. I love how punctuations and words typed a certain way can tell you so much about the person.

Health has been on my mind for weightier reasons than too-tight tops that are starting to show my very obvious tummy bulge; I turned 25 recently. While 24 allowed me to evade the issue in my head, there’s no denying it now: I’m in my MID TWENTIES. 30 – gasp – is just around the corner. Yes, I know, 30 is the new 20, blah blah blah. I don’t feel bad about aging in general. There are only two milestones I have yet to meet on my very vague life plan, albeit big ones: to meet someone strikingly marvelous, and to own a Victorian house. I’m hard at work on the former, and hoping that might enable the latter, although after many years of staying with folks I’d be willing to settle for a rickety little house as long as I can paint the walls anything other than white. Other than that, I have a healthy appetite, a great job, a masters and a great bunch of friends. I think it’s going ok, but I reserve the right to freak the fuck out on Mondays, regardless.

Behold! Eve raves unabated, and in the wake of her weekly excitement, she is left with no recourse but to unleash some of the best tunes here today!! Tremble, ye mortals, for the streetwise devourer of melody hath commanded you, reader, to click on the player below that will generate which man doth call Music!

So it is written… So it shall be done!!!

That’s right, I’m posting a track of Detroit’s ‘Black Gold’ and you’ll love every second of it. You’re welcome by the way. I like this track because it’s laid back. It’s one of those rare songs that’s soothing as well as dance worthy. Everyone just chill out and listen to the bubble bursting.

Oh and if you have any questions, comments, or just want to talk about what an outrightly pretty post I've put up, feel free to leave a comment or shoot me an email.

Hittin the Silver

It’s September 24th, or as we like to call it in my family, Christmas II. It’s on this very date back in 1983; I made my debut as a new member of the family. Sorry. I must rephrase- two babies made their debut as new members to the family unit, to what I am assured were mixed reviews. My mum wanted my older sister to have a companion but unfortunately there were two of us, so my older sis, any which ways, ended up being alone. Little did my folks know that their little bundle of face-kicking joy would grow up to achieve an incredibly tiny amount of sub cultural fame by writing about her life and music on the internet.

Which, needless to say, I’m totally doing again tonight.

Like a lot of literary and culturally rooted internet- confident girls in their mid–sigh–twenties without really great musical talent, I spend a lot of my time dreaming of being in a band and making it big. I mean, there’s always a chance, no matter how small, that I could go out on some dark night and meet the devil who would offer to get me all famous at the cost of my soul. And of course, in a couple of days I’d be, in this progressively imaginary situation, really famous- playing with this awesome band and climbing the world charts like wild fire. What I don’t think about, is the name of my band or the kind of music I’d actually be playing. Having the actual talent helps too, but since I’m playing ‘imagine this’ I can let that go.

We’re getting close to the end of the day, and as my birthday fades over the horizon, for my friends reading this- you can finally stop worrying about what you’re going to buy for me- it’s over and I loved the gifts and the wishes and the attention.

And really what better way to spend your birthday than to listen to music with people I love. It’s proof that we are living in the best of all possible worlds.

Okay, folks: I like Switchfoot as much as the next person–or let’s be honest here, way, way more than the next person but I’ll admit their last two albums didn’t really blow me away. Since I’m a huge fan of the band and their album ‘The Beautiful Letdown’ here’s ‘Dare you to move’.
It’s the song I was born to sing.

And that wraps it up for today. As always, I’ll be back soon with updates and music. In the meantime, if you’ve thought of a name for my band, feel free to mention it below.

P:S - I also happen to share my birthday with two AWESOME people, my friend Benny from the good ol’ party days and Sam, the go-to-guy. So I will have to eat two large slices of cake today in honor of them. Plus one to grow on.

mmmmmmm, cake.

‘Happy B’day to ME!’

**mumble mumble** Damn youngsters! Stay off my property!!
