Check 1..2…3 Check (Is this thing switched on?)

I apologize for the lack of regular updating. As I said in the last post - which was how many days ago? - things here have been on the super-hectic side and blogging has been the last thing I've had the time or energy to do. Posts are going to be very light but I'm going to do my best to keep you updated as we go along. I have a couple of entries in the works that will be easy to whip up. One is about school and here’s a treat – a before and after picture! Explanations are forthcoming, but I'll give you this: the ninja invasion is 100% true. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

If you like blues - really gritty, dirty blues with raw guitars, howling vocals and stripped down rhythms. Then you need to come down to The Le Rock Pub in B’lore city this Friday at 7 pm because you are about to witness two gorgeous musicians – Rudy Wallang and Tipriti ‘Tips’ Kharbangar (Soulmate) who heard the blues and never looked back. If you just like a good, old-fashioned bluesy vibe, you'll dig it and you can join me for a drink if you find yourself at the venue on said date. Hope to see you at the show.

(P:S - 300/- cover charge for couples and 400/- for stags.)
Due to an awesome link left some time ago on my facebook page I have had the pleasure of being introduced to a great Indie Rock band called ‘Arcade Fire’ by my friend, colleague and fellow blogger, Pete. Arcade Fire maybe a band whose music I know very little of but from what I’ve listened to, their music is quite universal. To be honest I think the track ‘Neon Bible’ is better than a lot of Indie Rock music I’ve heard to date. If I was forced to offer up a glib little review this is all I’d have to say.

You must watch their video here.
This version of ‘Neon Bible’ is even more beautiful than the real thing. It’s shot in an elevator and I love the whole tearing pages out of magazines. It’s just like taking your favorite parts of a track; putting them with acoustics, and playing that fantasy out for two whole minutes.
Trust me when I say that if you like this track you’ll simply love the band. It really is that good; Canadians seem know what they’re doing. And special thanks to the awesome soul who introduced me to them. You should thank them too.

Friday Musings

Today's assortment of completely incoherent and random thoughts has been brought to you by an actified (make that four) and the symptoms of a flu:

- I re-he-he-ly want a tattoo. The ones that make no sense but aren’t stupid either. Gigantic and bold… yeah!

- Life would be so much more fun if people could hear the songs that play in my head when they pass by.

- Sometimes I lay awake at night wondering if my left leg is longer than my right leg… and it's totally the fault of my twitchy brain syndrome.

- How is it possible that I never run out of falling in love with songs I discover every single day?

- I've been watching back to back episodes of Law & Order SVU as a way to pass the evenings at home after work and it has me feeling very inspired to be an Indian Wonder Woman.

- How does someone become a super spy-fighting machine? I think that's something I want to aim at doing before I turn fifty or something.

- Noodles or Pasta for dinner??

- Fall in love or not to fall in love?

- I want to go bald! I don’t find red hair exciting anymore.

- Tonight's fantasy threesome: Me, Channing Tatum and Hugh Jackman.

- No more cold medicine for me.
I’ve been a fan of KT Tunstall since she took her first few steps to the microphone and it’s been a delight to watch her move from behind the curtain out into worldwide acclaim. And rightly so I might add. If you don’t really recognize the track it’s not your fault. This is one of those tracks that were forgotten by the world. I haven’t had a chance to preview all her songs, but this track alone has made me excited to hear what Miss Tunstall has cooked up on her albums. The song ‘Heal over’ has a special place in my heart because it was Imcha’s gift to me. Living miles apart from each other has made us accept what we are left with on our road to ambition. Music is the key ingredient that has kept our friendship going and it will be music that will keep us together no matter what happens. I love the lines ‘Everybody sails alone, But we can travel side by side’. The lyrics are what really make this song into a brilliant piece of music. This is music that is meant to be turned up annoyingly loud and blasted throughout your house {or work, if no one else is there}. Long story short it is simply a good song. If you’re looking for some healing or just plain ol’ good music then ‘Heal Over’ serves as an excellent starting point to really get to know what KT Tunstall’s music is all about.

Killers in the Audience

I definitely earned a great Friday night with a cold pitcher of beer, maybe a couple of Long Island iced teas and ultra memorable music. But all I remember was having a little more than I was supposed to and flirting away with some white guy who I’m sure I’m never going to recognize if I do see him again. There was a throng of dope heads and lonely peers on the scene, and I really felt like some cookie-cutter act tucked away in a corner of the room. Luckily, my frothy little friend drowned all feeling and injected me with a bout of mischievousness. I know I feel like this when I haven’t taken a 5 minute break between my drinks.

I remembered moments of my life when I had done this sort of thing on a regular basis and at the median age of 24 I feel like I’ve changed so much- from carnival hip hop girl to mad rock listener, all this spanning a few years. Through ups and downs, erratic output and an unpredictable trajectory it’s always been music that has exerted a powerful creative presence in my life. Incidentally, my relationships also reflect the bond cemented by music.

The past seems to be dipping its ugly little head into my now seemingly perfect world.
They say that sometimes you have to walk away from what you know so well in order to find who you really are. And there’s a reason why certain moments and certain men are in the past. While giving second chances seem fair, settling for less isn’t an option. And this has what the past few days have taught me. Truth seeks Soul.

Stayed at home all day to recharge. Perhaps rethink some things. Listening to Counting Crows version of Ryan Adams’ "Come Pick Me Up".
